If you’re playing Shadow of the Erdtree, you know Elden Ring is full of hidden and hard-to-find places. Shadow of the Erdtree adds even more, including a special area sealed at the southern tip of the Cerulean Coast.

This area, called The Fissure, might have left you puzzled with its ‘sealed and obscured by Miquella’ message if you arrived too early.

How to Unseal Fissure in Shadow of the Erdtree?

If you reached The Fissure earlier than planned, you’ll see it is ‘sealed and obscured by Miquella’ in Shadow of the Erdtree.

To unseal The Fissure, you need to progress to a certain point in the game and follow Thiollier’s quest. If you haven’t met Thiollier yet, you can find him sitting on a bench at Pillar Path Cross, southeast of Castle Ensis Front Gate.

When you talk to him, he’ll share his love for St. Trina and sell some poison-related items.

As you advance in the game and defeat Rellana of Castle Ensis, you’ll encounter an event called ‘the shattering’ in Scadu Altus. This event is likely what unseals The Fissure. Make sure Thiollier heads there too.

After ‘the shattering’, NPCs, including Thiollier, start questioning Miquella’s intentions and their faith in him. Thiollier, feeling disheartened, still longs for St. Trina.

At this point, buy anything you want from Thiollier’s shop because it will soon become inaccessible.

In my experience, Thiollier didn’t move immediately after the shattering. But after checking back with him twice and catching up with Miquella’s Followers, he mentioned moving south to the Cerulean shore.

After your next rest, you’ll find that Thiollier and his shop are gone. The Fissure will be unsealed, and eventually, you’ll find Thiollier down there.
