Helldivers 2 was designed to be played with friends because it has many difficult tasks and strong enemies, making it hard to play alone.

However, some players want to test their skills by playing solo. It might be tough, but if you still want to try playing alone, here’s how you can do it.

Even though Helldivers 2 is more fun with friends, some players might want to experience the challenge by themselves, either to test their abilities or to see how far they can go on their own.

Luckily, you can play Helldivers 2 solo.

In this article, I will show you How to Play Solo in Helldivers 2.

How to Play Solo in Helldivers 2?

Helldivers 2 is meant to be played with four players. As you move forward in the game, it gets harder and more intense.

Because of this, the developers didn’t include a single-player mode. You won’t find this option in the settings. However, there’s a way to play Solo in Helldivers 2 if you really want to.

In Helldivers 2, many goals need teamwork to complete. Playing alone means you’ll miss out on most of these goals. Also, some enemies are very tough to beat on your own.

If you’re determined to play solo in Helldivers 2, follow these steps:

  1. Launch the game and open the Menu.
  2. Select Options from the Menu and then click on Gameplay.
  3. Tap on Matchmaking Privacy. By default, this setting is set to Public. You need to change it to Friends Only.
  4. After changing the setting, start the game without inviting any friends to play solo.

Keep in mind that the game’s difficulty stays the same whether you’re playing alone or with a team. You’ll face the same challenges and level of difficulty.

Helldivers 2 is an online-only game and can’t be played offline. You’ll need an internet connection to play, even if you’re going solo.

Tips to Play Helldivers 2 Solo

Despite my warnings against playing Helldivers 2 solo, sometimes it’s better than matching with random players in Quickplay. Here are some general tips for playing Helldivers 2, as well as specific advice for solo players:

  1. Cover All Bases for Fighting Enemies: Since you’re on your own, you need to be prepared for any enemy. Equip yourself with a variety of weapons and Stratagems, including explosives, armor-piercing rounds, and both close-range and long-range options.
  2. Use the Shield Generator Backpack: This support Stratagem, available at level 20, creates a regenerating bubble shield that can be a lifesaver in tough situations. It’s essential for surviving higher difficulty levels when playing solo.
  3. Utilize a Guard Dog and Turrets: If you haven’t reached level 20, a Guard Dog (like the Rover) can help you handle groups of weaker enemies. Automated turrets provide additional firepower and can distract enemies, giving you time to reload and resupply.
  4. Be Stealthy and Avoid Fights: Avoid enemy patrols to minimize the number of fights and conserve ammo. Running away from a large fight rarely works as enemies are very persistent. Stealth can save you from unnecessary battles.
  5. Speed is Key: Missions become more chaotic the longer they last, with enemies spawning more frequently. Focus on the main objectives and complete them quickly to avoid getting overwhelmed.
  6. Choose Light Armor: Light armor provides extra speed and stamina, helping you stay mobile. The Scout passive ability is particularly useful for solo players, making you harder for enemies to detect.
  7. Don’t Forget the SOS Beacon: If you need help during a mission, you can call in an SOS Beacon to try and connect with other Helldivers. An extra player can make a significant difference, though there’s no guarantee that someone will join.

By following these tips, you can improve your chances of surviving and succeeding in Helldivers 2, even when playing solo.
