Do you want to know How to Kill Furnace Golem (Wicker Men) in Shadow of the Erdtree?

The Furnace Golem is one of the most iconic enemies in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. These massive, Fire Giant-sized constructs are hard to miss with their glowing baskets lighting up the horizon in the Realm of Shadow.
Fighting these bosses is extremely tough at first. It’s not advisable to challenge the Furnace Golem in the Gravesite Plain right away, especially if you’re unprepared. Make sure to level up, gain Scadutree Blessings, and equip yourself with new weapons and crafting recipes.
Once you’ve powered up and gathered the right gear, taking on the Furnace Golems will be much more manageable.
In this article, I will show you How to Kill Furnace Golem in Shadow of the Erdtree?
How to Kill Furnace Golem in Shadow of the Erdtree?

Furnace Golems have an obvious weak spot: their small face masks.
However, reaching these masks is the tricky part. Normally, you can’t hit them from the ground. In some areas with higher terrain, you can climb up and target their weak points more easily.
When you’re on the ground level with their giant feet, it’s tough to aim that high without using a bow with greatarrows or spells like Night Comet.

Another weak point is on their back, in a small opening in the wire mesh.
The problem with using bows or spells is that you’re exposed to attacks while aiming, and Furnace Golems hit hard.
From a distance, they’ll kick flaming rocks at you, and the range is really long. If you’re on Torrent, gallop to the side as fast as you can and double jump just before the rocks reach you to try and dodge them.

If you’re not using spells to hit high-up weak spots, you need to target their legs – as long as they don’t have leg armor, which some late-game golems do.
Hit their legs with your melee weapon or use high-damage spells, especially those that can break their poise easily.

Up close, Furnace Golems have a few more attacks. They often raise a leg and stomp down, creating a shockwave of fire that spreads out from them.
Double jump on Torrent to avoid it, or dodge-roll forward if you’re on foot. They usually follow one stomp with another from the other leg, so watch out for that.

Sometimes, they’ll jump and crash down, sending out an even bigger flame wave. Dodge it the same way, but be careful not to jump too soon. There’s an initial explosion before the flame wave rushes towards you.
It’s a good idea to increase your Revered Spirit Ash level at least twice before fighting a Furnace Golem.

Revered Ash boosts Torrent’s health and reduces the damage he takes, making it more likely he’ll survive a hit from the golem if you’ve enhanced him.
Also, keep health restoratives for Torrent on your shortcut bar and use Scadutree Fragments to buff yourself.

After several hits, the golem will fall flat. You might get lucky and have easy access to the face mask, which you can attack with your melee weapon for heavy damage.
If the golem falls face down, your best option is to throw a Hefty Fire Pot into the basket for damage.
Furnace Golem Boss Rewards, when you kill them

In Shadow of the Erdtree, every Furnace Golem you defeat drops two items: a Furnace Visage and a Crystal Tear, exclusive to the Elden Ring DLC.
The Furnace Visage is a crafting material used in valuable recipes, and if you check it in your inventory, you’ll see it’s actually the metal faceplate of these terrifying, flaming giants.

Shadow of the Erdtree adds several new Crystal Tears, many hidden in secret locations across the Realm of Shadow.
Every Furnace Golem drops a Crystal Tear, and these Tears offer new ways to enhance your combat experience by upgrading your Physick Flask with unique abilities.

For example, if you defeat the Furnace Golem in the Gravesite Plain main area, you’ll get the Deflecting Hardtear.
This Crystal Tear activates the Spontaneous Guard mechanic for three minutes when consumed.

Spontaneous Guard negates all damage and allows for stronger retaliation when you perfectly block an attack, similar to the combat system in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Since all Furnace Golems drop different Crystal Tears, it’s worth learning how to defeat them to collect and experiment with these new buffs.
What Are Furnace Golems in Shadow of the Erdtree?

Furnace Golems are giant, flaming constructs that roam various open-world areas in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. These Wicker Man-like creatures can be found in several places, with the first one appearing soon after you enter the Realm of Shadow.
There are two types of Furnace Golems.
One type has legs wrapped in rope, which you can easily attack to break their Poise and eventually stagger them for a Critical Hit.

The other type has spiked armor on their feet, making it impossible to attack their legs. Instead, you have to target their face or the basket they carry.
When you defeat a Furnace Golem, it drops a crafting material called the Furnace Visage. The item description says, “The face upon the basket represents the Fell God of Fire that haunts the sagas of the hornsent.”

Elden Ring’s lore is mysterious, but based on this description, it’s believed that Messmer’s crusade used these Furnace Golems to burn the bodies of the Hornsent en masse, spreading fear among those who saw them.
This also suggests that Messmer’s flame might be drawn from the Fell God, although more lore needs to be uncovered to confirm this connection.
