How to Get to Hinterlands in Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree?
To Get to Hinterlands, head to the Shadow Keep, near the “Shadow Keep, Back Gate” Site of Grace. Perform the “O Mother” Gesture in front of the statue of Marika by this Site of Grace. This will make the statue move aside, revealing the path to the Hinterland.
To access the Hinterlands in Shadow of the Erdtree, head to the Shadow Keep Back Gate. If you haven’t been there yet, follow these steps:
- Reach the Top of the Specimen Storehouse: Navigate the beams and ladders to get to the other side of the room.
- Jump Down and Go Outside: Ride the nearby elevator and follow the linear path to the Shadow Keep Back Gate Site of Grace.

If it’s your first visit, explore outside to see what’s there. If you’ve been here before, take a right and collect the Scadutree Fragment from the Statue of Marika.
Gaining Passage to the Hinterlands
To enter the Hinterlands, use the “O Mother!” gesture in front of the Statue of Marika.
This will reveal a secret passage leading to the Hinterlands, where you can explore the mysterious Shaman Village and the Finger Ruins of Dheo, home to a Remembrance duplicator.
How to Get “O Mother!” Gesture
If you don’t have the “O Mother!” gesture, head north of Bonny Village (east of Moorth Ruins) to the marked area on the map. There, you’ll find the gesture.
Once you have the gesture, return to the Shadow Keep Back Gate, perform the gesture in front of the statue, and the passage to the Hinterlands will open up for you.
How to Find the Marika Statue
The Marika Statue is next to the “Shadow Keep, Back Gate” Site of Grace, right before the optional boss fight with Commander Gaius.
To get here, go through the Specimen Storehouse to the Loft area. From the ledge on the northwest side, take the next two elevators down to reach the Site of Grace.
