To craft items and complete quests in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you need to gather clay.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is full of useful resources to collect, adding to the game’s cozy charm.
However, finding clay can be quite challenging compared to stone, wood, or iron. The game doesn’t provide instructions on where to find clay, making it even harder to collect.
We’ve put together a simple guide on how to get clay and the best spots to find it, so you can easily gather what you need for your crafting and questing adventures (especially for those tasks from Minnie).
How to Get Clay in Dreamlight Valley?

To find clay in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you have a few options. First, you’ll need to unlock either the Glade of Trust, Sunlit Plateau, or the Forgotten Lands areas. The cheapest option to start with is the Glade of Trust, which costs 5,000 Dreamlight.
Once you’re in one of these areas, grab your shovel and start digging. Your best chances of finding clay are when it’s raining or near water sources like rivers and ponds. If you need a lot of clay, be prepared to dig in various spots across the biome.

As you complete Scar’s quests, particularly ‘Nature and Nurture’ and ‘Breaking Bones’, you’ll earn the Lion’s Claw Shovel Head.
This special tool allows you to break bones in the Sunlit Plateau, which drop clay. Keep in mind, though, these bones don’t come back, so it’s a one-time opportunity to collect around 150 clay.

How to Farm Clay in Dreamlight Valley?

While there’s no perfect way to farm Clay, here are a couple of tips to help you be as efficient as possible.
Keep Digging New Ground

It might seem obvious, but digging in the same spot repeatedly won’t yield many new items.
So, even though it can be time-consuming, keep moving and dig in new places to maximize your gains.
Bring a Digging Buddy

When you’re digging for Clay or any other material, it’s always a good idea to bring a friend who specializes in the Digging Role.
This not only helps increase your Friendship Level with them, but they also provide a chance to find extra materials with each dig. Just talk to a friend and choose the “Let’s Hang Out!” option.
Best Places to Find and Farm Clay in Disney Dreamlight Valley

You’re more likely to find clay in the Glade of Trust, Sunlit Plateau, and the Forgotten Lands when it’s raining.
Since you can’t control the weather, your best bet is to dig near water sources like rivers and ponds with a Level 10 digging companion.
Tips for Efficient Clay Farming in Disney Dreamlight Valley

- Dig with a Level 10 Companion: Bring along a friend assigned to the digging role, especially if they’re at Level 10. This increases your chances of finding extra clay. Having multiple villagers with the digging bonus can further boost your clay collection.
- Increase Friendship Levels: Completing a character’s quests, hanging out with them, and giving them gifts will raise their friendship level, which is essential for leveling them up.
- Cover Up Holes Quickly: Use the furniture placement menu to cover holes. Place a large item, like a bed, over the holes, and they’ll be automatically filled without using your shovel. Just make sure to actually place the furniture item. You can pick it up and place it again to cover multiple holes quickly.
- Farm During Rain: Try to dig for clay when it’s raining for a better yield.
Finding clay can be frustrating, especially since some characters (like Minnie) need a lot of it for their quests.
But with a Level 10 digging buddy, starting your farming near water sources, and digging during rain, you’ll find clay much more efficiently.
