Boltscale is a valuable serpent tissue that you can use to upgrade your high-level gear In Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Luckily, finding Boltscale isn’t too complicated, as long as you’re prepared for some battles and cave exploration.
In this article, I will show you How To Get Boltscales in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
How To Get Boltscales in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Boltscale drops from a special type of saurian that uses lightning attacks. You’ll find these creatures inside Darkhorde Cave, which is directly south of the Sacred Arbor, the elves’ home in Vermund.
Finding the path to the cave can be tricky. There’s a hard-to-spot opening on the branching path leading to Darkhorde Cave.
In the screenshot below, I’ve highlighted this hidden pathway where the map shows a faint road branching to the left.
As you proceed, you’ll encounter a group of regular saurians near an abandoned house and campfire. There’s also a forgotten riftstone in the area if you need to change your pawns, you can use this.
After defeating the saurians, continue along the straightforward path to find electric saurians at the entrance of Darkhorde Cave.
These creatures are spikier, glow with electric energy, and carry staves to cast spells. Here’s what they look like:
Loot these electric saurians to get boltscales from their bodies.
Not every saurian will drop a Boltscale, but there are plenty inside the cave, so keep fighting until you have enough to upgrade your gear. You can also return after resting for a few days to respawn the enemies.
Given the fast travel mechanics in Dragon’s Dogma 2, it’s a good idea to use the nearby campfire to grind and gather as much Boltscale as you need before leaving.
If you have an extra Portcrystal, consider placing it here for easier access.
How to Use Boltscale in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Enhancing Your Equipment
You can use Boltscale to upgrade your gear at a vendor who runs an armory or a smithy. This process requires materials and gold to make your armor or weapons stronger or to add special effects.
Finding Vendors
Vendors are usually found in settlements like Melve or Vernworth. These places often have an inn nearby where you can store or retrieve items.
Be careful not to unsheathe your weapon accidentally, as this can scare the vendors away and temporarily prevent you from interacting with them.
