When you start playing Dragon’s Dogma 2 and make your character, you’ll need to pick one of four starter classes, called Vocations.

These are Mage, Thief, Archer, and Fighter. As you progress in the game, you’ll unlock six more Vocations, which are as follows:

  • Warrior
  • Sorcerer
  • Warfarer
  • Trickster
  • Magick Archer
  • Mystic Spearhand

Fortunately, you can switch your Vocation for both you and your Pawns, but it’s not free. This guide will help Dragon’s Dogma 2 players learn how to change their Vocation and get new Weapon Skills from other classes.

How to Change Vocations and Classes in Dragon’s Dogma 2

To switch Vocations, go to the Borderwatch Lounge at the Borderwatch Outpost, one of the first big places you’ll go.

There’s even a part of the main quest where you have to rest at the inn to see what’s going on. Talk to the guy at the front desk to get into the Vocation Guild menu.

You can’t change your Vocation there, but you can learn new skills and find out more about the different classes.

You can visit any inn, like Tristan’s Inn in Melve, and talk to the attendant to get into the Vocations menu.

But you can’t learn new Weapon Skills or change Vocations while you’re in the middle of fighting or exploring. You’ll have to go back to town for that.

To switch Vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2, do this:

  • Talk to the Inn attendant.
  • Pick “Vocation Guild.”
  • Select “Change Vocation.”
  • Use the back triggers to go through your and your Pawns’ info screen.
  • Under the “Vocations” tab, you’ll see the Vocations you’ve unlocked.
  • You’ll need to spend DCP to get new Vocations.
  • You can level up your Vocation by battling enemies.

You can use Gold to stay at an inn, which heals your party’s health, stamina, and loss gauge. Resting also lets you change the time of day.

You can choose to wake up at night or during the day. This is handy if you need to start a specific DD2 quest that only happens at certain times.

Where to Find Vocation Guilds in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

You’ll often find Vocation Guilds near or inside inns scattered throughout the region. Most towns or Points of Interest have inns, marked by a bed icon on the map. Near these inns, you may also find special Vocation-Maisters.

Each city has its own Vocation Guilds and Maisters! But sometimes, these guilds might not be inside an inn.

Is There a Cost to Changing Vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Initially Costs Discipline Points:

VocationInitial DP Cost
Starter100 DP
Advanced150 DP
HybridTBD

Each Vocation has its own prerequisites to unlock. However, all Vocations need a certain amount of Discipline Points to unlock.

Once you spend the required Discipline Points for a Vocation, you can switch to any previously unlocked Vocation for free.

How to Get DCP (Discipline) in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

You can check your DCP (Discipline Points) in your Status screen. Each character might have different amounts because you earn Discipline by beating enemies and finishing side quests in Dragon’s Dogma 2. You use DCP to unlock new Vocations and get new Weapon Skills.

How to Get New Weapon Skills in Dragon’s Dogma 2

In the Vocation Guild menu, go to the Weapon Skills section. Here, you’ll find different skills you can unlock using DCP.

For instance, the Fighter class begins with the Blink Strike Weapon Skill, but you can spend DCP to unlock more skills like Airward Slash and Shield Bash.

After unlocking them, you’ll need to equip them with one of the four action buttons on your controller: Square, Circle, Triangle, X for PS or A, B, X, Y for Xbox.

Hold L1/LB to see your Skills during battle and then press the designated button to perform the action.
