It’s been an emotional week for fans of the Wizarding World. As life gives, it also takes away.

If you’ve missed the news, we’re just days away from the release of Harry Potter Quidditch Champions on September 3rd. Excitingly, PlayStation Plus subscribers can grab the game for free, which is a huge win for fans.

But that’s not all. Hogwarts Legacy, one of the most successful games in recent times, might finally get the fresh content it deserves.

Although the game has had a somewhat quiet period since its release, things could be about to change. Earlier this year, rumors of a Director’s Cut started circulating, and now there’s more evidence to back them up.

Reports suggest that updated logos have been added to the game’s files on Steam. With Back to Hogwarts Day coming up on September 1st, we might get some big news soon.

However, not all the news is good. Fans of the Wizarding World have been hit with some disappointing updates.

Harry Potter: Magic Awakened is officially shutting down in the Americas, Europe, and Oceania on October 29th this year, giving players less than two months to enjoy the game.

Oddly enough, the game will still be available in Asia, including China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and other select regions in Asia and the Middle East.

For those in the affected areas, the app has already been removed from app stores, and in-game purchases have been frozen.

The team behind the game expressed their gratitude to fans in the Americas, Europe, and Oceania, saying, “We’d like to thank those in the Americas, Europe, and Oceania for playing, and we’re incredibly proud and honored that so many fans around the world enjoyed Harry Potter: Magic Awakened with such enthusiasm and passion.”

Adding to the disappointment, it’s been confirmed that players won’t be eligible for refunds on any in-game purchases. Plus, all related social media channels will be closing down.

Many players are understandably upset. One Reddit user, IceGalahad, said, “I wish they would finish the story at least before closing the servers. It’s a shame, this game had a lot of potential.”

Another user, meebee3, added, “I’m actually really angry, all that time, money, and energy wasted.”

The live service market can be unpredictable, and it’s always tough to see dedicated players affected like this.
