Comparing Wuthering Waves to Genshin Impact is something many people do naturally. Wuthering Waves seems to borrow a lot from Genshin Impact, and you can see this in almost every part of the game. Some folks have even made charts to point out the similarities between the two.

But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Games often get ideas from each other; it’s how they get better.

One way Wuthering Waves stands out is with its Pity system, which is a bit different from Genshin’s Gacha system. While many mechanics are similar, small tweaks make a big impact. Let’s take a look at what’s changed.

How Does the Pity System Work in Wuthering Waves?

In Wuthering Waves, the pity system is a lot like Genshin Impact’s Gacha system, but with a few important changes.

First, every 10 pulls in Wuthering Waves guarantees you a 4-star character or weapon. Then, for every 80 pulls, you’re guaranteed a 5-star character or weapon.

Unlike Genshin, where you might not get a 5-star for a while, in Wuthering Waves, you’ll definitely get one at least once every 80 pulls. Once you get a 4-star or 5-star, the counter resets back to 0.

But here’s the catch: just like in Genshin, when you’re aiming for a specific character in a banner, there’s a 50/50 chance you’ll get them. If you miss that chance, the next 5-star you pull will be the featured character for sure.

For weapons, it’s a bit different. In Wuthering Waves, if you pull on the standard banner, you can lock in a specific weapon.

After 80 pulls, that weapon is guaranteed to drop, no coin flips involved. The same goes for weapon event banners — there’s only one weapon featured, and you’ll definitely get it after 80 pulls.

Also, once you reach Union level 45, you get to pick a 5-star weapon of your choice from the standard banner. That’s a nice bonus!

What Is Soft Pity in Wuthering Waves?

Now, let’s talk about something important: Wuthering Waves has its own soft pity system, kind of like what you might have seen in games like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail.

Here’s how it works: when you’ve done 50 pulls in Wuthering Waves, your chances of getting a 5-star character start going up. This keeps getting better until you hit 80 pulls, which is when the game will just give you a 5-star character automatically. So, keep that in mind while you’re playing!

How Does Pity Carry Over in Wuthering Waves?

In Wuthering Waves, the pity system is divided into four categories:

  1. The character standard banner
  2. The weapon standard banner
  3. The character event banner
  4. The weapon event banner

Here’s how it works: if you’ve been pulling on a character event banner, for example, and you’re close to hitting that 80-pull mark but the event ends, don’t worry. Your progress carries over to the next event banner.

So, if you were at 70 pulls on the previous event banner and the new one starts, you only need to pull 10 more times to guarantee yourself a 5-star pull.

To keep track of your progress, you can click on the history icon at the bottom of the Convene screen. This will show you how many pulls you’ve made so far.

By doing some quick math, you can figure out when you’ll hit that next guaranteed 5-star pull. It’s a handy tool to plan your pulls wisely!

How Does Pity on the Novice Banner Work?

So, with the Novice Convene Banner, things work a bit differently compared to the Event or Standard banners.

Here’s the deal: when you pull on this banner, you’re guaranteed to get a really good 5-star item after just 50 pulls. Plus, instead of needing 10 pulls at a time, you only need 8 Convenes.

But once you’ve done those 50 pulls, the Novice Convene closes for good. But don’t worry, because, after that, you get access to the Beginner Choice Convene instead.
