Fallout 4 is already known for being a tough game, set in a radioactive post-apocalyptic world where danger lurks around every corner.

But recently, a player has found a new way to crank up the difficulty, making the Bethesda title even more challenging.

As with any Fallout game, the key to success is surviving in the harsh wastelands. With threats like ghouls, mutants, and Death Claws, staying alive is no easy task.

However, one player on r/Fallout decided to take things to the next level by diving into Fallout 4’s Survival Mode.

“Playing Survival in Fallout 4 is like a whole different game,” they shared.

“I played Fallout 2, New Vegas, & Fallout 4 this year, but I felt like starting another playthrough. I never played Survival mode but decided to try it. THIS IS THE WAY FALLOUT WAS MEANT TO BE PLAYED.”

In Survival Mode, the game becomes much tougher. Essentials like Stimpaks and sleeping bags are hard to come by, and finding enough food to stay alive becomes a real challenge. Survival Mode truly tests your ability to find food, water, and shelter, and failing to do so can have serious consequences.

This hardcore way of playing has gained popularity among other players, who took to the comments to express their love for the mode.

“I agree that survival is definitely the way to go,” one player wrote. “You find so much random food and things like that have absolutely no use in a normal playthrough. Survival really forces you to scrounge around and look through everything.”

Another player added, “I think Survival starts out as overwhelming to a newcomer, but once you know what you’re doing, it’s SOOO much more fun. I’ve been in FO4 for about 3,400 hours now, most of it in Survival. I would never play another difficulty at this point.”
