In Star Wars Outlaws, you’ll come across certain areas that you can’t access without a special tool called the Fusioncutter.

These areas are blocked by special gates, and you’ll need the Fusioncutter to get through them.

In this article, I will show you how to get the Fusioncutter and when you’ll be able to use it in the game.

How to Get the Fusioncutter in Star Wars Outlaws?

The Fusioncutter is a tool you’ll get later in the game during a mission called “Legacy.”

Most of this mission happens on the planet Akiva, but you can’t get the Fusioncutter right away, even if you go to Akiva early on.

First, you’ll need to complete the main story missions on two other planets, Kijimi and Tatooine.

As you play, you’ll notice gates that require the Fusioncutter to open.

Unfortunately, you can’t get the tool early in the game. You’ll need to come back to these gates later once you have the Fusioncutter.

When Kay Gets the Fusioncutter

After finishing the main missions on the three key planets, Kay, the main character, will start a mission to find a second Slicer.

The “Legacy” mission begins with this task, but it quickly shifts to a rescue mission for a character named ND-5.

Without giving away too much, Kay will need to explore a large underground area to find a rare part. Gedeek, a Droidsmith that Kay recruited earlier, will join her on this quest.

During this mission, Kay and Gedeek will come across the special gates that need the Fusioncutter.

Gedeek will use the Fusioncutter to cut through the first gate and then give it to Kay. From that point on, Kay will have the Fusioncutter in her inventory and can use it whenever she needs it.

Where to Use the Fusioncutter in Star Wars Outlaws?

Besides the gates in the main missions like “Legacy,” Kay will find other gates blocking access to different areas around the game world.

These areas often hide useful items that can upgrade your Blaster, Vehicles, and other Tools, especially for the later parts of the game.

While it’s not clear exactly how many of these gates exist, you’ll probably find several scattered across the four main planets.

The best way to locate them, or any hidden treasures, is to follow the question marks on the compass at the top of your screen.

For example, one of these gates led to a hidden treasure called Piapo’s Stash. So, keep an eye out for these gates as you explore the galaxy!
