In Dragon’s Dogma 2, Dwarven Smithing is centered on the Volcanic Island and becomes available through specific quests.

Dwarven Smithing in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a special way to upgrade your weapons and armor. Like Battahli and Vermundian smithing, it adds unique benefits to your gear.

While it makes your equipment heavier, it also boosts its overall effectiveness. The main advantage of Dwarven Smithing is its ability to enhance knockback power for weapons or improve resistance to knockback for armor.

If you like the idea of sending enemies flying or standing your ground against attacks, here’s how you can unlock Dwarven Smithing in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

How to Unlock Dwarven Smithing in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

To unlock Dwarven Smithing in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you need to reach Bakbattahl.

However, getting there is just the beginning; you’ll also need to complete a few quests, which will take some time and lead you to challenging high-level areas.

Be sure your gear is up to the task.

Dulled Steel, Cold Forge

Start by exploring the castle grounds of Vermund after finishing the quests “Disa’s Plot” and “The Stolen Throne“.

Look for a guard named Roman near the front of the castle. He will give you a ceremonial sword that needs repairing, starting the “Dulled Steel, Cold Forge” quest.

This quest will eventually guide you to a master blacksmith in a neighboring country.

To get to Bakbattahl, either complete the “Feast of Deception” quest first or sneak across the river near the Checkpoint Rest Town.

Once you arrive, head to Brokkr’s Smithy as shown on your map. Follow these steps:

  1. Talk to Sara, the apprentice blacksmith, when Brokkr is away.
  2. Gather 15 Glimmercoal/Glymercole.
  3. Speak with Sara again to complete the quest.

Make sure you have the Regalia Sword from Roman, or Sara and Brokkr won’t give you any quests.

Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge

After finishing the first quest, talk to Brokkr to start the “Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge” quest. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Check on Sara.
  2. Find Sara.
  3. Escort Sara to the cave entrance.
  4. Return to the Smithy.
  5. Return to Roman in Vermund.

Completing these steps will enable Sara to learn Dwarven Smithing techniques. Talk to her to upgrade your gear with better base stats and increased Knockdown Power/Resistance.

If you enter the Unmoored World after one of the game’s endings without doing these side quests, you can still visit Brokkr and Sara in Bakbattahl.

By this point, Sara will already know Dwarven Smithing, so you won’t need to complete the initial side quests.

What does Dwarven Smithing do in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Dwarven Smithing in Dragon’s Dogma 2 stands out because it focuses on boosting your knockback power and knockback defense, unlike other smithing types.

For example, Vermundian Smithing increases all attributes evenly.

With enhanced knockback power, you can break an opponent’s stance and knock them down more easily, allowing you to inflict more damage.

Plus, the increased knockback defense helps you stay steady during fights.

What Is Dwarven Forging in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Dwarven Forging is perfect for melee-focused characters like Fighters, Warriors, and some Thieves in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

It makes your weapons hit harder, adds knockdown power, and increases weight. Upgrading your armor also boosts defense and knockdown resistance, but it will be heavier.

Even though the extra weight can be a drawback, the benefits are worth it since Fighters and Warriors are built to carry heavier weapons and armor.

To manage the added weight, try increasing your carry capacity. The Warfarer Vocation is also great for Dwarven Forging because only their heaviest weapon counts towards their carry capacity, making it easier to handle the weight.
