If you haven’t noticed yet, you can mine precious ores in Dragon’s Dogma 2. If your pawns are quiet about it, you might have missed their constant hint, “I reckon there’s materials to gather around.”
Even if you’re an experienced miner in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you’ve probably only come across silver and gold ore veins, not Sunstone.
Sunstone is a rare mineral that you can usually find only in the later stages of the game. You’ll need sharp eyes and patience to get some.
In this guide, I’ll show you how to get Sunstone in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
How To Get Sunstone in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
To get Sunstone in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you have 3 main options: mining, defeating specific enemies, or buying it from a shop.
Mining at Dragonsbreath Tower
First, head to Dragonsbreath Tower. Start from Bakbattahl and follow the main road west until it splits to the south.
When you see a bridge, turn right into the forest and keep going until you reach Dragonsbreath Tower. You’ll find plenty of Sunstone ore veins there.
Defeating Enemies
You can also get Sunstone by defeating certain enemies:
- Serpent: These lightning-powered, Saurian-like creatures are found southwest of the Sacred Arbor area in Vermund.
- Gorechimera: If you haven’t reached the endgame yet, look for a Gorechimera in the depths of the Waterfall Cave in Vermund.
- Grim Ogre: One Grim Ogre is located near the Enoa’Battahl Forest in Battahl, close to the Trickster Maister Reverent Shrine. Another is along the main road in the Wyrmsblood Forest.
Buying from Mubarak’s Shop
Mubarak is a beastren merchant who roams the roads in northern Battahl. You can buy Sunstone from him for 3000 gold each.
If he runs out, he restocks after three days. Just rest at a nearby campsite and check back later.
How To Farm Sunstone in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Sunstone is a rare resource in Dragon’s Dogma 2, so you might need to spend some time farming it to improve your equipment.
Dragonsbreath Tower is the only known renewable source, but farming here can be time-consuming and costly unless you use the infinite gold glitch.
Farm Sunstone Using Campsites
The most effective way to farm Sunstone is by using the campsite at Dragonsbreath Tower. To do this, you’ll need to pass time by using multiple campsites in succession.
Due to the low respawn rate of the ore, expect to wait between 3-7 in-game days for Sunstone to reappear, usually closer to 7 days.
Farm Sunstone Using Portcrystals
Another method is to place one of your Portcrystals at the campsite near Dragonsbreath Tower. This allows you to return every in-game week to mine the Sunstone.
While this method isn’t very cost-effective because it requires Ferrystones, it lets you continue completing quests and gathering other resources while waiting for the Sunstone to respawn.
By planning your farming attempts around these strategies, you can gradually accumulate enough Sunstone to enhance your gear without wasting too much time or resources.
Best uses for Sunstone Ore in Dragon’s Dogma 2
The best use for Sunstone Ore in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is enhancing your equipment and weapons at an armory or smithy.
Key Uses for Sunstone Ore
One notable weapon that requires Sunstone for enhancement is the Vermundian and Elvian Dragon’s Breath.

What Sunstone Is For
Sunstone is used to upgrade and enhance your equipment in Dragon’s Dogma 2. At the time of writing, these are the only items I’ve found that require Sunstone for upgrades:
- Vermundian Heaven’s Key
- Battahli Heaven’s Key
- Elven Heaven’s Key
- Dwarven Heaven’s Key
- Vermundian Dragon’s Breath
- Elven Dragon’s Breath
When to Sell Sunstone
Selling Sunstone isn’t advisable unless you’re already satisfied with your current equipment and confident you can tackle the Unmoored World in the true ending of Dragon’s Dogma 2.
By prioritizing the enhancement of your gear with Sunstone, you’ll significantly boost your effectiveness in combat, especially if you’re playing as a Magick Archer.
