Portcrystals are an important element to fast travel from one place to another in Dragon’s Dogma 2. It could save tons of your time, and you could easily teleport to another place using Portcrystals.

If you are playing Dragon’s Dogma 2, you know about the huge open-world, this game has. It allows you to enjoy the game more but it also requires your time to travel from one location to another.

But don’t worry, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has some amazing features that allow you to fast travel from different locations, and the most efficient way to fast travel is by using Portcrystals.

Before you can fast travel by using Portcrystals, you need to find them. If you don’t know where and how to find Portcrystals, read this section. But if you already have Portcrystals and to know know best places to put portcrystals, you can skip this section and scroll down to read the next section.

How to Get Portable Portcrystals in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

In Dragon’s Dogma 2, you will get 2 permanent Portcrystals that you can use to fast-travel from anywhere on the map to the location of the Portcrystals of your choosing.

Later on in your adventure, you’ll be able to find and place portable Portcrystals at a destination of your choice.

You can only have up to 8 Portable Portcrystals placed at any given time. If you want to change the location of a Portycrytal you’ve placed, you can recover it to move it someplace else.

Captain Brant’s quest

There are multiple ways to get Portable Portcrystals in DD2, but the easiest way to get your first Portcrystals is from Captain Brant’s quest line after completing the main quest “The Feast of Deception“.

Vermund Griffin

You can find one portcrystal by riding a Vermund griffin to its nest, which you can do by just jumping on its back and attacking it until it tries to run home. When it brings you to its nest — or if you find the nest in the southern part of the Misty Marshes (seen on the map above) — you’ll find a portcrystal just lying inside.

Battahl

In Battahl, during the main quest, you’ll come across the Dragonforged Smith in the Bay Wayward Shrine. Here, you can trade Wyrmslife Crystals with him in exchange for powerful upgrades to your weapons and armor. For 20 of your Wyrmslife Crystals, he’ll sell you a single portcrystal.

Vernworth Portcrystal

For your next portcrystal, you can find an elf named Glyndwr in the city square of Vernworth. He’ll give you the “Gift of the Bow” quest, which will eventually lead to the “A Trial of Archery” quest. Follow his questline and you’ll get a portcrystal as a reward.

Harve Village Portcrystal

This Portcrystal is near Harve Village’s shoreline, right next to the Rivage Elder’s Home.

Sphinx Quest Portcrystal

You will get two portable portcrystal from the Sphinx who gives you riddles throughout the “A Game of Wits” quest.

First, the Riddle of Madness asks you to place your most beloved friend in front of the Sphinx. Grab your main pawn, toss them up to the platform, and the Sphinx will hand over her one and only portcrystal.

However, during the Riddle of Conviction, the Sphinx will ask you to give her your most precious item in the world.

She’ll act like she’s going to take it from you, but will instead give it back to you and give you a fully functional duplicate. If you hand her the portcrystal you just received from the Riddle of Madness, you’ll walk away two portcrystals richer.

Unmoored World Portcrystals

Once you’ve reached the Unmoored World by completing the Legacy quest and unlocking Dragon’s Dogma 2 true ending, there will be three new Portcrystals available for you:

• One will be west of the Inn in the Sacred Arbor.
• There’s another one on the Agamen Volcanic Island, along the shore path that takes you to Bakbatahhl.

Best Portcrystal Placement Locations in DD2

After you Get Portcrystals, it’s time to place it properly to travel efficiently. Porcrystal is a rare item in the game. So you have to be more careful to place it. You can’t place it randomly throughout the map.

You will get only 8 Portable Portcrystals throughout the game. So you have to be more selective when you place your Portcrystal in DD2. Here are the 8 best Best Portcrystal Placement Locations in DD2:

• Bakbattahl
• Dragonforge Cave
• Volcanic Island Camp
• Sacred Arbor
• Checkpoint Rest Town
• Nameless Village
• Melve

Bakbattahl should be your number one priority for Portcrystal placement because it does not have one, despite its size and importance in the story.

Your priorities should be Bakbattahl, the Dragonforge Cave, and the Volcanic Island Camp. All other locations are not necessarily difficult to get to, but the Arisen can save a lot of travel time by placing one there at some point in your journey.

There are a few locations in the game that have Portcrystals naturally, like Harve Village and Vernworth, so be sure to check your map and make sure you aren’t close to another Portcrystal before placing one in a location not listed above.
