As you explore deeper into Ghost of Tsushima, you’ll be constantly amazed by its beauty and the secrets hidden on the island. While gathering crafting materials is pretty straightforward, finding certain dyes can be a bit tricky.

Ghost of Tsushima’s crafting system is easy to understand, focusing on a few key upgrades and aesthetic changes that enhance your experience.

However, locating some specific dyes can be challenging and might require a bit of detective work, similar to the Long Bow quest in Hiyoshi Springs.

While these dyes aren’t necessary to complete the game, not being able to find the elusive white and black dyes can be frustrating if you’re aiming for a specific look for your character.

Where to Find White Dye Merchants in Ghost of Tsushima?

To find the White Dye Merchant, head to the west of the Wanderer’s Pass in the Izuhara region.

You can access him right from the start of Act 1, though it’s a bit of a trek. Located on a small mountain in northern Izuhara, you can reach him via paved roads from the west or take a more challenging climb up the mountain from the east.

Look for a tower draped in white fabric at the top—this is the White Dye Merchant’s shop. Here, you can purchase crisp, white dyes for various items:

Where to Find Black Dye Merchants in Ghost of Tsushima?

The Black Dye Merchant appears later in the game, located slightly southwest of Urashima’s Village in the easternmost part of the Toyotama region.

Unlike the sunlit mountain spot of the White Dye Merchant, the Black Dye Merchant’s shop is hidden in a cave within a bamboo thicket. You’ll spot black fabric displayed outside the cave.

Inside, the merchant sells these sleek, black colorways:

Traveler’s AttireJourney Into Night10

While these merchants can be tricky to locate, you should be able to find their shops by methodically exploring the island of Tsushima. Once found, you can fast travel back to them whenever you need new dyes.

Changing Jin’s appearance doesn’t affect his stats, but it lets you customize how he looks as he fights through Mongol forces. This is different from finding items like Steel, which does improve Jin’s strength. Unlimited Steel is valuable for boosting his attack power.

Though the Black and White Dye Merchants are somewhat hidden, their dyes offer some of the coolest looks in the game.
